Hey guys and good afternoooonnnnnn!
For my first post on the DIY page, i have decided to share with you guys the DIY toners and sprays i use on a day-to-day basis. Toners are so important for the skin, so if you're reluctant to cash out on a (new) toner (that will most likely just be alcohol), or simply want to start using cheaper, more organic and better ones, continue reading. Every mornings, i use one of my homemade toners; my basil leaf toner, rice water toner, or my apple cider vinegar with rosemary water toner. I use this every day after washing my face (Check out my Morning Routine Post on the SKINCARE page to see what i wash my face with etc). (1) I use basil leaves because they help control and avoid acne breakouts by detoxifying our face with its antibacterial properties. I add a few fresh basil leaves to a cup of piping hot water, add a few drops of glycerine, then cover it with cling film and leave to cool. When it's finished cooling, i add it to a spray bottle and apply to my face every morning. I mostly use this during exam season or during 'that' time of the month since that's when i'm prone to breakouts. (2) I use rice water because it helps reduce oil production, tightens the skin, as well as minimizing the appearances of pores. It is important that you make this toner with BROWN RICE as white rice hasn't even got half the nutrients that brown rice does. I apply this to my face most mornings when i haven't really got any skin problems, and when i'm trying to maintain my skin health. (3) I'm sure you have all heard but apple cider vinegar does WONDERS to the face! It gets rid of both pores and spots, as well as reducing oil production on the face. The only downside to using this is that it can leave a grim stench and can actually burn the face if used at full strength - THIS is why i add 50% apple cider vinegar to 50% rosemary water. Another reason why i use rosemary water is because it gives the face a nice glow. In addition to this, it overrides the the powerful smell on the apple cider vinegar. For my more in depth, unique and unusual DIYs (such as, body scrubs, teeth whitening hacks, stretch mark removal DIYs, body scrubs and face toners), stay up to date with the blog! See you next time.
